The optimal insole for every purpose – For improved foot climate and better fit of your footwear

Wearing the same footwear for hours on end during military or civilian activities is a major challenge for feet and legs. Every foot is as individual as its owner. That’s why the right insole can significantly increase comfort when walking, standing and marching. With high-quality, breathable insoles, walking comfort can be greatly improved.

What should you bear in mind when using insoles?

Above all, you should make sure that the insole has the right fit for the shoe or boot. If it is too big or too small, this usually leads to creasing or slipping. The result is an unpleasant pressure sensation or blisters.

Tips for using the right insoles

There are two types of soles to distinguish between: insoles, which are placed on the footbed or form it, and outsoles, which are placed underneath a footbed and are significantly more rigid than simple inserts. Not infrequently, both variants are combined in a single product and serve as a hard‑wearing replacement sole for all kinds of shoes and boots.

For optimal adaptation to your own foot, many insoles are offered in a universal size that can be cut to shape on site. This applies primarily to insoles with insulating and breathable properties; otherwise, the subdivision into different supportive foot zones risks being destroyed.

An aluminum canteen with a cup lid has the following advantage: the lid can be used for cooking food and boiling water. This saves weight and pack volume in your backpack.

What types of insoles are there?

You can choose insoles by material, but it’s better to choose them by intended use:
- shock-absorbing effect
- heat-regulating insoles
- for cold (insulating and/or heated)
- moisture regulation
- odor control
- pressure point relief
- footbed (e.g. with gel cushions)

How are soles dried?

Insoles must not be dried on radiators or other heat sources; instead, they should be stored in a well-ventilated, dry place.

Do the sole and the footwear influence each other?

Shorts are universally usable and come in many variants. Whether swim shorts, Bermuda, combat, sports, vintage, nylon, MMA shorts (Mixed Martial Arts) or boxer shorts – they all have one thing in common: they are short trousers, and in hot environments they are an absolute must-have.

Is it possible to replace the soles?

Yes. Most models are designed as insoles that can easily be placed in any pair of shoes and can be replaced without difficulty with a new pair once worn out.
